wayfinding
A downloadable game
you are standing at a crossroads. the road you choose will have consequences—all choices do. in your hands, you hold a letter. it is addressed to you, in familiar handwriting. your future self has written to you to tell you what lies further down the road.
this is a meditative storytelling game meant to be used as a tool in times of discernment or decision making. it draws from a variety of contemplative practices and traditions, taking you through a number of thought-provoking and clarifying prompts before placing you in the position of your future self, who has lived with the consequences of taking one of the possible paths before you. as your future self, you will write a letter back to your current self about the results of this choice. this process can be repeated as many times as you feel is necessary for any given choice, allowing you to thoughtfully explore your options.
a note on discerning alone or with a friend
particularly if you are an external processor, you may find it easier to go through the prompts in this game if you can talk them through with a trusted friend. this is perfectly fine, as long as you keep in mind that the decision is ultimately yours, regardless of any external opinions.
a note on safety
if at any time this process begins to feel overwhelming or beyond what you have the emotional bandwidth to hold safely, you are invited to set the game down and walk away. it will be here to return to later if you wish. your safety is the most important thing.
material components
- some means of recording your answers to the prompts
- a candle, some incense, or another way of marking the time as something special
- a blank page or two (whether physical or digital) on which to write a letter, and a corresponding writing implement
let’s begin.
